About Willis Pest Control LLC

Hello,

My name is Willard Willis. I have been associated with the pest control industry since 1981. Here is some of my history. While I was still in college, studying environmental health, I took a summer job working with Orkin Pest Control, in Grand Rapids Michigan. After I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and a minor in Pesticide Technology, I was hired by Smitter Pest Control out of Grand Rapids Michigan.

Val Smitter was past President of the Michigan Pest Control Association and the owner of Smitter Pest Control. Mr. Smitter seemed to appreciate my qualifications and was grateful enough to hire me on the spot as a service technician. I worked at the Grand Rapids office for a few years, after which my wife and I decided to move back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1988, I purchased a commercial pest control route from Mr. Smitter. All my accounts were commercial and the route covered the entire Eastern Upper Peninsula. 

In 1989, I learned how to exclude bats from peoples’ houses. My teacher was Marshall Hanks. I believe he was the first person to develop a system of removing bats from structures, without killing them. I have improved on the techniques that Mr. Hanks had taught me, and I still do bat exclusion and bat proofing to this day.

I have expanded my expertise in the area of nuisance wildlife management. Today, we are one of the few Pest Control firms that are experts in both general pest control and wildlife control. 

In summation, I have learned the science and art of pest control and wildlife control from two of the best in the industry. My education and work experience has continued to improve as modern methods and techniques have been regulated by the EPA, Michigan Dept. of Agriculture, Mich. Dept. of Natural Resources and other governmental agencies. As the Owner of Willis Pest Control of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, I’m proud to say we have been voted the best Pest Control company in the Eastern Upper Peninsula for the past three years (2012 - 2014).

Today, Willis Pest Control LLC is family operated. My daughter, Sally, has been instrumental in the sales department. My son Chris has been a technician since 1991 and has become an expert in bat removal and general pest control. Collectively, Willis Pest Control is dedicated to providing our customers with the best and most timely service a company can give.
